Welcome to the Providence Downs Racing Sea Horses Swim Team

Hello Providence Downs Neighbors

The Swim Team is a wonderful opportunity to bring the neighborhood together and to grow in the sport of swimming.  Providence Downs had its inaugural swim team season in 2006 and has achieved numerous awards such as Division Champions, Sportsmanship and All Star Champions as a participant in the Greater Charlotte Swim League.

The swimmers range in age of 4 to 18 and experience from the novice to year round competitors. The basic requirement is for the swimmer to complete one length of the pool unassisted. Coaches work with the swimmer at the beginning of the season to achieve this goal as we encourage and promote participation.  Through the neighborhood swim team, Providence Downs has introduced many children to the sport of swimming.

In order to join the Racing Sea Horses, families must be residents of Providence Downs and in good standing with the homeowners association.

FAQ

When does swim season begin? The Swim Season begins mid-May and lasts through late June or early July.  Practices are in the afternoons until school ends in June and then practices will be held mornings on weekdays.  Swim Meets are held on Monday and Thursday nights during the month of June.

How can I register?  Registration opens in March. The online registration link is found on the team’s website at www.eteamz.com/pdswimteam.   Note: the swim team is self-funded by participants of the swim team, not by the homeowner’s association.

Can I sponsor the swim team?  Each season we offer neighborhood businesses the opportunity to sponsor the swim team. Your company logo will appear on team T-shirts, heat sheets, fliers, banners, etc.

Are there volunteer commitments?  Yes.  The swim team is run by volunteers.  Each swim meet and team event will require many volunteers.  Volunteer roles vary from meet set up, timers, officials, concessions, ribbon writers, etc.

Other Events:  Early in each season, we host a Mock Meet or Time Trials followed by team pictures.  This gives an opportunity for the swimmers to learn the flow of a swim meet in a non-competitive setting.  At the end of the season, there will be an All Star Meet and a team banquet.   We also mix in fun practices throughout the season!
